American frontman believes Everton are a match for any club
Everton attacker Landon Donovan is adamant his side can compete with any team in the top-flight and expects proof against Chelsea.
The 11th-place side have been experiencing inconsistent form recently with victory against Premier League leaders Manchester City before taking just a point against bottom side Wigan on Saturday.
However the USA international, who is enjoying his second spell with the Merseyside club, believes that his side have the necessary ability to compete with any team in the league.
Everton host fourth-place Chelsea at Goodison Park on Saturday and Donovan expects that his side will go into the encounter fearless, knowing they have a chance to win.
"Since the day I got here there has always been the belief this team can compete with any team in the Premier League," he told the
Liverpool Echo.
No fear
"When I was here last time we beat Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City and should have drawn at Tottenham, so there is no fear in this club.
"We have a lot of respect for Chelsea, they are one of the best teams in the world, but we feel at Goodison we have a chance and we are going to go for it."
Donovan, who is currently on a short-term loan deal from parent club LA Galaxy, insists that, despite the weekend's draw, Everton are playing well and are in good spirits while Chelsea will have to bounce back after surrendering a three-goal advantage to draw with Manchester United on Sunday.
"They've come off an interesting result against Manchester United so it will be an interesting game to see how they respond to that," he added.
"We feel good in how we're playing, we like how we're playing right now and our form has been pretty good so it makes for a really good match-up."
