Bolton welcome captain Jay Spearing back for their meeting with Bristol Rovers.

The midfielder has served a two-game suspension after picking up his 10th booking of the season against Rochdale and is ready to return.

Striker Gary Madine missed the defeat to Sheffield United with illness but could be back and fit-again Andrew Taylor is ready to challenge Dean Moxey for a starting shirt.

Reece Wabara is awaiting a debut having signed on a free transfer earlier this month.

Rovers are likely to make changes after falling six points from the play-off places following five successive draws.

Lee Brown is expected to replace Bob Harris at left-back if he recovers from a knock picked up in training before Saturday's 1-1 home draw with Scunthorpe.

But James Clarke is another option, and there could also be a change at right-back if Joe Partington proves his fitness after missing the Scunthorpe game.
