Scot prepared to axe senior players and blood youngsters
Bolton boss Owen Coyle has warned his senior players they are playing for their futures at the club.
Coyle is becoming increasingly concerned at his side's slump in form, with the Trotters currently down in 19th place after losing nine of their 12 Premier League games this season.
A number of the club's senior players - including the likes of Kevin Davies, Ivan Klasnic, Jussi Jaaskelainen, Ricardo Gardner and Martin Petrov - are out-of-contract at the end of the season.
Coyle admits he has no qualms about replacing them in the side with some of the club's younger stars and should they continue to under-perform, some established names face being released at the end of the campaign.
"The experienced players need to be pulling their weight, doing their bit and showing me that they still want to have a career at Bolton Wanderers," the 45-year-old told
The Bolton News.
"Our young players are doing fine and they are going to get better.
"If they are good enough, they will play regardless of how old they are, and that, in the long term for Bolton Wanderers, is the way forward.
"Bit by bit I will bring them in, and make us a fresh and energetic team."
