Reading to pay players in 24 hours after Hong Kong bank holiday error

Reading intend to pay their players in full in the next 24 hours, Sky Sports News understands, after blaming a payment error on the Hong Kong bank holiday.

Some of the Royals squad have been paid in full but the rest will receive their dues when the banks in the Far East city reopen on Friday.

Hong Kong has a Labour Day bank holiday on May 1 and a resulting administrative glitch has been blamed for money not being transferred.

Sky Bet Championship side Reading are owned by Renhe Commercial Holdings Company Limited, which is owned by Chinese businessman Dai Yongge.
