Two-goal Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan helped Reading back into the Sky Bet League One play-off places after a comfortable 3-0 victory over lowly Wigan.

The Royals raced into an early 2-0 lead through a header from Ehibhatiomhan and an own goal from Wigan defender Will Aimson.

Ehibhatiomhan struck again in the 63rd minute as the hosts also extended their unbeaten home record to 10 matches.

Reading goalkeeper Joel Pereira pulls off AUDACIOUS roulette to avoid losing the ball against Wigan in their League One clash.

After a quiet opening from both sides, Reading went ahead in the ninth minute when Ehibhatiomhan stooped to meet a clever lobbed cross from Kamari Doyle perfectly with his head.

The hosts increased their lead 10 minutes later following an intricate build-up, with Charlie Savage guiding the ball past onrushing Wigan goalkeeper Sam Tickle and into the six-yard box. Aimson tried to send it behind for a corner but, instead, diverted it into the net via an outstretched leg.

Wigan, who had not offered a shot on or off target before the break, started the second half with greater intent but they lacked any sort of cutting edge and Reading were allowed to increase their advantage - and effectively seal their return to the top-six - 18 minutes after the interval.
