CURETON COMPLETES READING SWITCH

READING have completed the £250,000 signing of Bristol Rovers' Jamie Cureton, after the young striker signed a three-year deal with The Royals.

As reported by planetfootball.com last week, Reading had agreed a fee with Rovers for the prolific scorer, and having now agreed personal terms and completed his medical, Cureton has completed the switch across the Second Division, to the delight of Reading manager Alan Pardew.

"We set out goals and targets this year, and with the loss of Nicky Forster, those goals and targets were going to be very difficult to achieve," said Pardew.

"The signing of Jamie Cureton means they are now feasible, and the players can appreciate that they are feasible, which is the most important thing when you set goals and targets.

"We all believe we can do it, and bringing in Jamie Cureton alongside Tony Rougier has made us even stronger than we were before Nicky Forster's unfortunate injury.

"Now it's important that the fans respond to our performance on Saturday and we get this Stadium filled," added Pardew. "The chairman's ambition for this club cannot be questioned and as a young manager I count myself fortunate to have a chairman who has so much faith in my judgement."

Reading chairman John Madejski was also full of praise for the club's latest acquisition, and shared Pardew's confidence that Cureton can provide the goals to bring success to the club.

"I'm absolutely delighted about this signing," said the Reading supremo. "Jamie is an excellent player and a proven goalscorer who will add yet more quality to our already very strong squad.

"This signing once again underlines our ambition and our absolute determination to achieve promotion to the First Division this season."
