Striker leaves Reading to play regular first-team football
Reading have confirmed that Mathieu Manset has joined FC Sion after an undisclosed offer from the Swiss club for the striker was accepted.
Manset joined Reading from Hereford United in January 2011 and he scored five goals in 31 appearances during his time at the Madejski Stadium.
He was the subject of a bid from Crawley Town during the January transfer window before joining Chinese side Shanghai Shenhua on loan in February.
The 22-year-old has recently returned from his spell in the Far East and has now headed off again to complete a switch to Sion.
"Manny scored some important goals for us last season, and so played a part in helping us reach the Premier League," Reading's director of football Nicky Hammond told the club's
official website.
"However he wants regular first-team football and we can't guarantee that this year; we'd like to wish him the best of luck in his future career."
Manset's move to Sion will see the forward play alongside veteran Italian midfielder Gennaro Gattuso, having been part of the same squad as Nicolas Anelka in Shanghai.
