Mauricio Pochettino: No concerns over Harry Kane's summer with England

Tottenham head coach Mauricio Pochettino insists he has no concerns over Harry Kane going to Euro 2016 with England after criticising the striker's busy schedule last summer.

Kane was forced into a delayed start to the current campaign after going on a post-season tour of Malaysia and Australia with Spurs last May followed by the U21s European Championships with England.

Pochettino raised concerns at the time and said last season was "very, very difficult, mentally and physically" for the 22-year-old, but believes his greater maturity makes this summer less of an issue.

"I am not worried because last season was worse than this summer," he said ahead of Spurs' last-16 second leg against Borussia Dortmund on Thursday.

"But Harry has more experience now and is more mature. I am not more worried than last season."

Kane has been in superb form again this season, scoring 22 goals including six in his last eight Premier League games.

Spurs team-mate Toby Alderweireld praised Kane's form and explained why there is no chance of the forward getting tired as Tottenham continue their pursuit of the title.

He said: "He's a very good striker but for us he works for the team as well as scoring.

"The reason we don't get tired is because we had a very tough pre-season and we work hard every day to keep our bodies fit, and do all sorts of tests.

"We are also real professionals. Our focus is only football in our lives."
