Eric Dier says Tottenham team-mate Dele Alli is reaping the rewards of the extra hours he has been putting in on the training ground.

Alli opened the scoring at White Hart Lane as Tottenham hit three goals in six second-half minutes to defeat Manchester United and keep their Premier League title hopes alive.

The goal was Alli's eighth of a hugely impressive debut season in the top-flight, a campaign which has also seen him score on his England debut

The 20-year-old has been less prolific in recent weeks and had not scored since the 3-0 victory over Norwich on February 2 before netting against United.

"It was important I put that one away [on Sunday] as I've missed a few chances in recent games and training as Eric will tell you," Alli told Spurs TV as he was standing next to Dier.

Dier then added: "To be fair he deserves it because yesterday [Saturday] he was out after training practising his finishing.
