Youngster heads home

Tottenham have sold Spanish youngster Yuri Berchiche to Real Valladolid for an undisclosed fee. The 19-year-old joined Spurs' academy ranks in 2007, but struggled to make an impression at White Hart Lane. He was sent out on loan to League One outfit Cheltenham last season, and made seven appearances for the Robins during his time at Whaddon Road. His situation has failed to improve at Tottenham over the summer, though, and he has now decided to head home. "Yuri Berchiche has joined Real Valladolid on a permanent transfer," read a statement on Spurs' official website. "The Spanish defender joined our academy from Athletic Bilbao in June 2007 and last season spent three months on loan at Cheltenham Town. "We wish Yuri every success for the future."
