Midfielder to miss rest of the campaign
Tottenham midfielder Niko Kranjcar has been ruled out for the rest of the season with an ankle injury.
Kranjcar picked up the problem in last weekend's FA Cup semi-final defeat to former club Portsmouth at Wembley.
The Croatian schemer was forced to miss the midweek win over Arsenal with the problem and scans have revealed the injury is worse than first feared with the player needing an operation to correct the damage.
It means Kranjcar will miss Spurs' last five games of the season and the news is a blow for Harry Redknapp's side as they battle to claim fourth place in the table.
Redknapp said: "The courage he showed was amazing to play on. He'll need a nasty operation."
Kranjcar joins long-term absentees Jonathan Woodgate and Jermaine Jenas on the sidelines at White Hart Lane.
