Croatian defender open to permanent summer switch
Vedran Corluka admits he would be willing to consider a permanent switch to Bayer Leverkusen were the club to put an offer to Tottenham.
The Croatia international linked up with the Bundesliga outfit in January after finding first-team football hard to come by at White Hart Lane.
He has enjoyed his time in the German top-flight and has refused to rule out the possibility of staying on past the end of his loan agreement.
Corluka appreciates that he may be forced to return to England, as he is still under contract at Spurs, but he is keeping all of his options open ahead of the summer transfer window.
"The truth is that my deal at Tottenham expires in 2014, so I could go back to London," he told
Globus.
Option
"But Bayer have the option to buy me in the summer and if the two clubs reach an agreement, I can't see any reason why I shouldn't stay in Germany.
"The start of the season was not good for me or the club (Spurs). Results were not good and then I got injured.
"While I was out, Tottenham started to play better and better and when I returned it was difficult to break back into the starting XI. But I had to play as I want to be ready for Euro 2012.
"I had many offers but Bayer were the most serious. I have no regrets."
