Premier League: Mauricio Pochettino praises Tottenham players as win over Burnley caps excellent week

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino congratulated his players after they beat Burnley 2-1 to record their third win in six days.
Following their late victory at Swansea City last Sunday, Spurs beat Newcastle United 4-0 in midweek to reach the semi-finals of the Capital One Cup.
And they followed that up with another home win over Burnley thanks to first-half goals from Harry Kane and Erik Lamela either side of an Ashley Barnes strike.
"I'm very pleased, it was a big effort from our players," Pochettino told Sky Sports. "In six days, we have had three games and three wins. It was a big effort from the players so congratulations to them and we look forward now.
"Against Newcastle, we felt the special relationship between our supporters and the team and today was the same, we need to keep this feeling."
Victory over Burnley was only Spurs' fourth home league win of the season, but lifted them above Arsenal and into sixth in the Premier League.
They were helped on their way by a stunning strike from Lamela, who curled a long-range shot into the corner to score his first top-flight goal for the club.
"It was an amazing goal," said Pochettino. "I'm happy for him and it was a special first goal. I'm also happy for our supporters.
"At 2-1, we created chances but didn’t score. In football, you need to score when you create chances. You always feel during the game that it is difficult because they play a lot of long balls and are difficult to play against. But I am happy because the effort was great."
Asked about the injury to Ryan Mason that saw him subbed off just before half-time, Pochettino said: "He twisted his ankle but it is not too bad, we will need to analyse it tomorrow."
