Right-back Kieran Trippier has passed his medical at Tottenham ahead of his move from Burnley, according to Sky sources.

Sky Sports reported earlier this week that Spurs were on the cusp of signing the 24-year-old after the clubs agreed a deal in the region of £3.5million.

Clarets boss Sean Dyche, whose side were relegated from the Premier League last season, then confirmed on Wednesday that Trippier's potential transfer was an "active deal".

Trippier is therefore set to become Spurs' second signing of the season after the Austria defender Kevin Wimmer completed his move last month, and will provide competition to Kyle Walker for a place at right-back.

It will also mean Lancashire club Burnley have lost a second of their brightest talents after 11-goal striker Danny Ings joined Liverpool after turning down a move to White Hart Lane himself.

Trippier joined Burnley from Manchester City in 2012 after an impressive loan spell followed two previous, temporary stints at Barnsley.

He never made a first team appearance for City but has played over 150 times for Burnley and scored four goals.

Trippier has also represented every England team from U18 to U21 level but is yet to be called up to the England senior team.
