Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish may have to sit out Tuesday night's Premier League clash with Crystal Palace due to a bout of tonsillitis.

The 20-year-old was sidelined for Saturday's 1-1 FA Cup third round draw at Wycombe and manager Remi Garde thinks he is unlikely to recover in time for the visit of the Eagles.

Grealish tweeted ahead of kick-off on Saturday: "Gutted I am ill for today's game.

"Still supporting from home. Come on lads."

And Garde explained afterwards: "He has been suffering with tonsillitis. He's had a fever and he's been taking antiobiotics.

"It's been quite serious, he hasn't trained for a few days, so it could be tough for the next match."

A hugely exciting talent, Grealish has endured a somewhat difficult campaign, and was briefly forced to train with the youth team after it was reported that he had gone to a nightclub in the wake of a defeat at Everton.
