Remi Garde: It's Aston Villa that matters, not me

Remi Garde says his own reputation does not matter as he fights to lift Aston Villa in the wake of another heavy defeat.

Manchester City won 4-0 at Villa Park to end the home side's FA Cup hopes and leave unlikely-looking Premier League survival as their sole remaining target for the season.

Villa are 10 points from safety, and Garde has won just two games since agreeing to replace Tim Sherwood in November with the club already bottom.

He said: "I am not working for myself, I am working the best I can for this football club. My name is not important for me.

"I am not here to save my skin, I'm am here to do my best. I am sticking with my players and I know that it was not a comfortable position when I came in."

Kelechi Iheanacho's hat-trick did for Villa on the day, the second of his goals coming from the penalty spot after a foul on Raheem Sterling.

Garde took issue with that decision, saying: "It's a bit harsh, it was a generous penalty. After 25 minutes you are 2-0 down, two set pieces, they are a good side but I don't remember them having too many chances during this time."
