Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce insists that he's happy with his sides point against Leeds but was frustrated to concede first

Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce admitted to being pleased with a point after Jonathan Kodjia's late penalty secured his side a 1-1 draw with Leeds.

Pontus Jansson's second-half header put the away side ahead at Villa Park in the Sky Bet Championship on Thursday night, but Villa fought back late on and Liam Cooper's handball gifted Kodjia the opportunity to equalise.

"You take a point of course you do," Bruce told Sky Sports. "I thought we edged it in the first half, but the second half was all about getting the first goal.

"We made a couple of mistakes and it's disappointing we conceded from a set-piece, and after that when you're chasing the game in front of an expectant crowd it becomes difficult.

"But we stuck at it against a very decent Leeds team. On another day we might have got a win as well when we've had a really good opportunity at the death.

"Whether it would have been deserved I'm not so sure, but at least we showed a bit of resilience."

Rudy Gestede made an impact after coming on, playing a part in winning the penalty and nearly setting up Kodjia for the winner late on, and Bruce revealed there had been some interest in Gestede from Middlesbrough.
