Jack Grealish

All the hype surrounded the Villa captain before their return to the Premier League, and that has continued as he made the step up. Grealish has been among Villa's star performers, prompting strong calls for him to be involved in Gareth Southgate's England set-up. He has created 69 chances this season, the fifth-highest total in the Premier League this season, and has won 127 fouls, 33 more than anyone else.

Tyrone Mings

The former Bournemouth defender was signed on a permanent deal in the summer after impressing on loan in the Championship, and has continued his development at Villa Park, earning an England call-up last autumn. Despite the odd mistake, Mings has remained strong in a Villa defence that concedes more chances than any other team.

John McGinn

A huge miss for Villa after breaking his ankle in April, McGinn continued his impressive form from the Championship into this top-flight season, tirelessly operating across midfield. His return has been eagerly anticipated as Villa look to keep above water.

The £10m summer signing was solid for Villa before his injury on New Year's Day at Burnley, prompting Villa to sign Pepe Reina as cover. Heaton's Villa career got off to a bad start, conceding a penalty against Bournemouth within minutes back in August, but he impressed until the Christmas period with a string of fine performances.
