Alpay hints at new club on Monday

ALPAY OZALAN is confident his future will be clarified on Monday, and has indicated he is leaving Aston Villa for a new club.

The Turkish international seems determined to capitalise on an impressive World Cup showing by earning a lucrative summer switch.

Graham Taylor wants to keep the powerful centre back at Villa Park, having not yet had the opportunity to work with him due to the injury that kept Alpay out of action for the back-end of last season.

Galatasaray wanted to snap him up, but the 29-year-old has hinted he will be moving to a bigger team in Europe.

"I talked with Aston Villa," he affirmed, after meeting with Taylor.

"My new team will become clear on Monday.

"I do not play in Turkey.

"I will play in Europe.

"There are very good offers from the biggest clubs."

Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund have been forwarded as possible destinations for Alpay, but the fact that a number of top teams across Europe are looking for new central defenders means it is difficult to pinpoint the Turkish international's exact choice of club.
