Ulises desperate to join Villa

ULISES DE LA CRUZ could soon be an Aston Villa player, if Hibernian agree to let the player move to Villa Park.

The Ecuadorian international defender has emerged as one of Villa boss Graham Taylor`s chief summer targets, and the player has revealed that he is itching to make the move to England.

The SPL outfit were always likely to find it hard to resist lucrative offers, and it would seem Villa are set to beat off competition from Parma for the 28-year-old.

De la Cruz said: "The economic offer that they have made, suits me. So, I have told them that I agree with it.

"Now what I expect is to get permission from Hibernian to have the chance to sign an agreement with Aston Villa."

The player feels signing for Villa will be one of the highlights of his career.

He added: "Having the chance to sign for Aston Villa is a dream come true, so I am very happy about this."

It has been suggested that the Ecuadorian may struggle to adapt to life in England, but the player has no such fears.

"I know that Aston Villa play quick football but I will not have any problem in adapting," he said.

"I even have an advantage because I can also play in the position on the right side of the midfield."

Taylor admitted that he was a big admirer of De La Cruz, but refused to reveal if he was interested in adding him to his squad.

"I know all about him and have done since long before the World Cup," said Taylor. "But at the moment that is as far as it goes."
