Vincent Kompany says the pressure is on Real Madrid to reach the Champions League final after their semi-final first leg with Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium ended goalless.
City's captain is aiming to take his side into the final of Europe's premier competition for the first time and he believes they have the platform to do so.
The Sky Blues head to the Bernabeu next week knowing a win or score draw will be enough to face the winner of Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich at the San Siro in May.
Kompany insists the pressure is on Real and believes that City can take advantage.
"I think they need to score because they play at home and Real Madrid is a big, big club," he said.
"No matter what stage of the competition, no matter what occasion, there is a certain style of play they need to bring and a certain level of performance and hopefully that will play into our hands.
"If we can use that energy against them who knows. They have got an incredibly gifted and talented squad so you can't exclude a moment of genius therefore we need to score as well."
