Gabriel Jesus continued his stunning start to 2019 with two more goals in Manchester City’s routine 3-0 victory over 10-men Wolves.

The Brazilian opened the scoring with a simple tap-in from Leroy Sane's left-wing cross just 10 minutes into the contest.

The task got easier for City after Willy Boly's red card and when Ryan Bennett brought down Raheem Sterling late in the first half, Jesus doubled the lead from the spot.

That took the 21-year-old striker's tally for the year to seven in just his third appearance of 2019 having scored one against Rotherham and put four goals past Burton Albion.

Remarkably, Tottenham are the only team in the Premier League to have scored more goals so far this year than Jesus has managed to register on his own.

Manchester United have scored five times, Chelsea have got four and Liverpool have found the net only three times thus far in 2019.

He also scored a hat-trick in City's 6-0 win over Shakhtar Donetsk in November and got two more in the December victory over Everton.

As a result, Jesus has scored 12 goals in his last eight appearances at the Etihad Stadium. In that period, he has scored once every 58 minutes in front of his own fans.

"He's like a monster - full of energy, running everywhere," said MNF guest Yaya Toure.

Jesus told Sky Sports afterwards: "Now I am playing better and of course scoring goals is important to me because I am a striker. I need to score goals and, of course, play well."
