The Manchester City squad will pay for coach travel to the FA Cup final on May 18 for the club's supporters.

City will take on Watford in the Wembley showpiece and the players have decided to pay for the coaches as a gesture of thanks to their fans.

Pep Guardiola's squad are out of the Champions League after a dramatic away goals defeat to Spurs on Wednesday night - but remain in contention for two more trophies, having already won the Carabao Cup.

And a club statement on Thursday said: "The Manchester City first-team squad will fund coach travel to the FA Cup final to say thank you to fans for their incredible support throughout the season.

"A total of 26 coaches will be provided, one from each player, and subject to demand the club will also provide additional coach travel for supporters (based on availability of coaches)."

Captain Vincent Kompany told the club website: "The support from our fans throughout the season has been nothing short of incredible.

"Travelling to so many games in league and cup competitions, both home and away, is not easy to do and is something that every player in our squad values and appreciates.

"Although last night's result was not the one that we had hoped for, it was very special to hear our fans in full voice for ninety minutes backing the team.

"We still have so much to fight for this season, and this is our way of saying thank you to them for being with us every step of the way."
