Benjamin Mendy has been included in Manchester City's squad for their Champions League match against Shakhtar Donetsk.
The left-back had surgery on a knee problem which sidelined him for the majority of last season and the start of this campaign.
Mendy has recently stepped up his recovery from the injury and Pep Guardiola said that he would be back "in the next few games".
But it looks like the Frenchman is back ahead of schedule as he could feature in their Champions League tie in Ukraine on Wednesday.
Youngster Phil Foden has been left out of the 21-man travelling squad, with the midfielder not "fully fit" according to the club.
New City signings Joao Cancelo, Angelino and Scott Carson have all been included in the team for the club's opening Champions League tie of the season.
Leroy Sane and Aymeric Laporte are both long-term absentees.
City were knocked out of the Champions League quarter-finals last season by Tottenham after a late Raheem Sterling goal was ruled out by VAR.
