Manchester City goalkeeper Shay Given will sit out the remainder of the season after suffering a dislocated shoulder against Arsenal.
The Republic of Ireland international left the pitch in clear discomfort in the second-half after turning Abou Diaby's low drive round the post.
Given had to receive gas on the pitch and was taken to hospital immediately - he will now miss City's crucial fixtures against Aston Villa, Tottenham and West Ham.
Manager Roberto Mancini admitted the injury is a big blow to City's plans to finish in the top four this term and secure a place in next year's UEFA Champions League.
Problem
"Shay's injury will be a problem. It's not good for us because Shay is a fantastic goalkeeper," he said.
"He is important to us, but in football you can always get injured.
"Shay is in hospital, but we have ten days and must play three big games."
Faroe Islands keeper Gunnar Nielson came on for Given at the Emirates and could continue between the sticks.
Regular No.2 Stuart Taylor is some way off full-fitness with a knee injury so Nielson could be thrust into the limelight at the business end of the campaign.
Mancini added: "Gunnar came on and did very well. Stuart is still some way off and everyone must be 200 per cent now."
