Manchester City stand firm over valuation of striker

Manchester City have insisted that they have no plans to let Carlos Tevez leave the club in a cut-price deal. Reports linking him with rival Premier League clubs, moves to Europe and back to South America are constant following his off-field issues at the Etihad Stadium. Roberto Mancini accused Tevez of refusing to play during their UEFA Champions League clash at Bayern Munich and a club investigation later found him guilty of improper conduct, for which he was fined four weeks' wages. However, the case of Tevez refusing to play was not proven, and now reports suggest that the Argentine could launch legal action against Mancini for his comments. Tevez's future also remains far from clear, but City have rubbished reports that they could allow him to leave in a cut-price deal. A club spokesman confirmed: "I can confirm that following a call between Roberto and the chairman [Khaldoon Al Mubarak] today, the club's formal position is that no offer for Carlos Tevez will be considered unless it reflects true market value." Tevez, who has just under three years left on his current deal, is being tipped to leave the club in January.
