Dutch side Feyenoord have released Manchester City's Omar Elabdellaoui early from a season-long loan deal.

The Norwegian winger was loaned out by the Premier League outfit to the Dutch club last summer but could not establish himself in the side, playing just five times.
The club let Elabdellaoui go at his request and reports in Holland suggest he is closing on a new loan deal with Bundesliga 2 side Eintracht Braunschweig.
Feyenoord technical director Martin van Geel told the club's official website: "We saw Omar as a good stand-in for that position. Of course we will take care that also after his departure, all positions are at least doubly occupied."
Elabdellaoui was handed a new two-year contract with City in the summer, despite not making a first-team appearance for the club since his arrival from Skied in 2008.
He spent time on loan with Norwegian side Stromgodset in 2011.
