Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini expects to be without midfielder Fabian Delph for around six weeks.

The 25-year-old suffered a hamstring problem playing for England on Tuesday, just 90 seconds into the European Qualifier against Switzerland.

Delph has played twice for City in the Premier League this season following his transfer from Aston Villa in July for around £8m.

The former Leeds player had a similar injury during the club's pre-season tour, but Pellegrini does not think he has been rushed back into action.

"No, no, I don't think so," Pellegrini said. "Fabian worked with us before he went to his national squad.

"He worked normally without any problem, he played some minutes with our team, so I think that was very unlucky for him to have that injury. These things happen."

When asked how long the player is likely to be out of action for, Pellegrini said: "I think at least one month, one month and a half."
