Borussia Dortmund defender Neven Subotic has held talks with Middlesbrough about a move to the Premier League new boys, according to Sky sources.
Dortmund have given the Serbia international permission to travel to Teesside, and he was shown around the club's facilities on Thursday.
Subotic would cost Middlesbrough in the region of £8m.
Sky Sports News HQ also understands Sunderland are interested in the 27-year-old, but he isn't currently a priority for Sam Allardyce.
