Middlesbrough midfielder Adam Forshaw is pleased with his side's unbeaten start to the new Premier League season and believes they can compete at this level.
Forshaw, 24, signed a new four-year contact for Boro on Friday and has featured heavily in their first Premier League campaign since 2009.
After an opening-day draw with Stoke, Middlesbrough won at north-east rivals Sunderland before drawing 0-0 with West Brom at the Hawthorns just before the international break.
A return of five points leaves Middlesbrough lying in sixth place in the Premier League and Forshaw believes they could even have had more points to show at this stage.
"As a barometer we are more than capable of playing in this league," Forshaw told the club's official site.
"With the type of players we have we're always disappointed [not to win]. With the momentum we built last year and the winning feeling we had we think maybe we can nick games but we can't complain.
"We can take positives, at times we played well and matched them. We're going into the international break unbeaten so it's been positive."
Next up for Aitor Karanka's side is a home fixture against Crystal Palace on September 10.
