Slavisa Jokanovic thought his Fulham were the better side as their season ended in the Championship play-off semi-final at Reading.
Reading booked their place in the Sky Bet Championship play-off final after beating Jokanovic's side 1-0 (2-1 on aggregate) in a closely matched semi-final on Tuesday.
The winning strike came from the boot of Yann Kermorgant after referee Martin Atkinson awarded Reading a controversial penalty for a handball by Tomas Kalas.
Fulham created plenty of openings in the second-leg but found home goalkeeper Ali Al-Habsi in unbeatable form with the shot-stopper making a string of fine saves to deny the west Londoners.
"Did the best team lose? Yes," he said.
"We played better football, it's true. We are the best team but we are not going to play the final.
"We didn't put the ball in the net and we paid an expensive price.
"We created many chances but we were not clinical enough. But I am proud of my team and how they played tonight and all season."
