Fulham are interested in bringing in up to three defensive reinforcements before the window shuts, Sky Sports News understands.
The club are looking at Youssouf Sabaly, Havard Nordtveit and Michael Ngadeu-Ngadjui, with one of these players currently on his way to London to potentially complete a deal.
It is understood the Cottagers could even sign all three players, with medicals for the other two taking place elsewhere.
Sabaly, 25, is a versatile defender who joined Bordeaux in 2017. He previously had a loan spell with the French Ligue 1 side when he was on Paris Saint-Germain's books.
Norway international Nordtveit made 16 appearances for West Ham between 2016 and 2017 before signing for Hoffenheim.
Sky Sports News reported on Thursday that Fulham are in talks to sign Slavia Prague defender Michael Ngadeu-Ngadjui.
Fulham boss Claudio Ranieri refused to be drawn on the club's efforts to sign the 28-year-old Cameroon captain at his news conference on Thursday, but he did say he was hoping to strengthen the squad before the transfer window shuts.
"The club is working hard until 11pm tonight," he said. "Something good could happen.
"If it happens, much better. "If it doesn't happen we will stay stronger together and continue to fight.
"The group needs some good players."
