Cottagers make bid for Vitesse defender, say Dutch reports

Fulham have tabled a €2million (£1.6m) bid for Vitesse Arnhem left-back Alexander Buttner, according to reports in the Dutch media. Cottagers boss Martin Jol is keen on the 23-year-old, who is also thought to be on the radar of Werder Bremen and Shakhtar Donetsk. Buttner was in London this week for an initial introduction to the Premier League club, according to Dutch newspaper De Gelderlander. His current deal in Arnhem expires next summer and the Cottagers are thought to be keen to tempt him away from the GelreDome. The defender is a youth product at Vitesse and has notched up over 100 appearances since making his senior debut in 2008.
