Venezuelan striker a target for Steve Bruce

Daniel Arismendi's agent has told skysports.com that Wigan Athletic are keen on the Venezuelan forward. Wigan, along with Manchester City, have been linked with a bid for Arismendi, who has most recently been playing in Mexico with Atlante. The 26-year-old is hoping to secure a move to Europe and has been watched on three occasions by Wigan's scouting staff. Latics boss Steve Bruce is looking to bring in a new striker and is rumoured to be bidding for Everton forward Andy Johnson.

Big objective

Arismendi would be a cheaper alternative to Johnson, and his representative Luis Aparicio says talks are ongoing. According to Aparicio, there are two Premier League teams interested in Arismendi, with Wigan one of the clubs in the hunt "Now we are negotiating with these clubs and the player is waiting to see if an agreement will exist in England," Aparicio told skysports.com. "Making the move to Europe is a big objective for Arismendi."
