Wigan will offer striker Hugo Rodallega a new deal to keep him at the club.
Wigan keen to keep star striker
Wigan Athletic are to offer striker Hugo Rodallega a new contract to keep him at the DW Stadium.
The Latics are keen to keep the Colombia international, who is into the final year of his contract and can talk to clubs from January 1.
Roberto Martinez is set to lose one of his star names before the start of the season, with winger Charles N'Zogbia on the brink of moving to Aston Villa.
Rodallega, who has scored 22 goals in two and a half years at Wigan, has been competing in the Copa America this month and there has been reported interest from rival clubs including Arsenal and Everton.
Talking
But owner Dave Whelan told the
Wigan Evening Post that Rodallega is an important part of the club's plans.
He said: "We'll be talking to Hugo when he gets back from the Copa America, and as far as I know he's happy here. We'd like him to stay.
"We've not had an offer in for Hugo, and I would imagine Roberto Martinez will be keen to get something sorted on that one. We do not want to be selling him, though - absolutely not."
Meanwhile, midfielders Ben Watson and James McCarthy are also in line for new deals.
