Wigan face missing out on FC Tours striker Andy Delort after a rival British club made a better offer.

Latics, who are also closing in on a deal for Brentford midfielder Adam Forshaw, are desperate for further attacking reinforcements, with Oriol Riera's winner against Blackpool their only goal from a forward in their four league games to date.

Delort, 22, scored an impressive 24 goals in 36 Ligue 2 games last season and has previously expressed a desire to join Latics' Sky Bet Championship rivals Charlton this summer.

Uwe Rosler's men are in talks with the prolific Frenchman, but may need to increase their bid if they are to prevent him joining another club on these shores.

A statement on FC Tours' official website read: "Numerous rumours have been sending Andy Delort all over Europe - to Germany, England, Belgium, Spain and France - since the transfer window opened.

"The most recent story was that a deal had been struck with Wigan, a club from the English second division. At this time, no deal has been struck with the club, even though discussions are happening and are going well.

"Discussions are also under way with several other clubs. A better offer has been made by another British club, which included a very intriguing link-up with the Tours FC training centre.

"The transfer window is still open and reliable information about any future transfer of Andy Delort will be provided on the club's official website."
