Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder feels there are similarities between his side and their Carabao Cup opponents, Leicester City.

Wilder led the Blades to the Sky Bet League One title last season, a year after he achieved the same championship feat with Northampton Town in League Two.

Leicester are no strangers to silverware, having lifted the Premier League trophy in the 2015-16 season, a feat Wilder says will never be forgotten.

"It's been an unbelievable couple of years for them," said Wilder, whose side take on the Foxes live on Sky Sports Football on Tuesday night. "It's a similar sized club really.

"Leicester City and Sheffield United have quite a lot of comparisons, being working-class clubs.

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder is expecting the club to 'push on' and make signings in the transfer market as he looks ahead to the League Cup tie against Leicester

"Obviously they've had a big influence financially from abroad and they had an unbelievable season that will go down in the history of the Premier League.

"Their squad has improved beyond recognition from three or four years ago so whatever team they put out, I should imagine they'll be making changes.

"We are too because we've got a massive game on Saturday, so there are opportunities for Leicester City players to impress before the Manchester United game and certainly from our point of view, boys will be given the opportunity to stake a claim for the game against Derby."

Wilder is pleased with the start his side has made on their return to the Sky Bet Championship but still hopes to recruit some new players before the transfer window closes.

"We are going to be learning right the way through," he said. "We've been out the division for six years so it will take time for us to get up to speed but we're in a good place.

"It's a decent start, we've taken six points from four games and we're in the top half of the division. We want to push on, we want to bring a few more players into the football club and hopefully we'll do that before the window to make us strong, we don't want to make the numbers up."
