Manager leaves club after defeat to Sheffield United

Charlton have parted company with manager Alan Pardew following a string of poor results. The Addicks made a promising start to their Championship campaign but have failed to win any of their last eight matches. Saturday's 5-2 defeat at home to Sheffield United left Charlton in the bottom three, and Pardew admitted after the final whistle that he did fear for his job. Pardew stressed that he would not resign but it has now been announced that he has left the club by mutual consent. Pardew took charge at The Valley on Christmas Eve 2006, just two weeks after he had been sacked by West Ham. He could not keep Charlton in the Premier League and was unable to mount a strong challenge for promotion last term. Club bosses have now decided it is time for a change ahead of Tuesday's trip to Queens Park Rangers. Let us know your thoughts on Pardew's departure and who should replace him.
