Charlton have brought in midfielder Johnnie Jackson on a month's loan from Notts County.
The 27-year-old former Tottenham trainee was keen to return to London and could be in the Addicks squad to face Yeovil on Saturday.
County caretaker boss Dave Kevan said: "It's disappointing. It's mainly for family reasons. His wife is heavily pregnant. She's down in London so it suits him.
"It was not forced on us by the finances. There was no pressure on me to allow him to go - I didn't want him to go.
"But Jacko sees it as an opportunity in his career to gain a permanent move to Charlton. It is a possibility he will come back here though, absolutely."
