Mark Noble says to concede eleven goals in three games is laughable following West Ham's 3-0 defeat to Southampton

Mark Noble says West Ham can't get any worse following defeat to Southampton and believes their recent defensive record has been 'laughable'.

It was another unhappy day at the office for the Hammers, who suffered a fourth consecutive Premier League defeat as the Saints saw them off in a 3-0 victory at the London Stadium on Sunday.

The in-form Charlie Austin opened the scoring in the 40th minute to make it five goals in four games in all competitions, with Dusan Tadic doubling the lead just after the hour mark.

James Ward-Prowse rounded off proceedings two minutes into second half injury time to see West Ham suffer five Premier League defeats in their opening six games for the first time in their history.

Hammers captain Noble spoke to Sky Sports after another disappointing performance, and was scathing of his side's current form.

"I thought we started well and then we conceded and to be honest, we never really looked like getting back into it from there," he said.

"It could have been six in the end and I think Adrian pulled off some good saves. On the bright side, I don't think it can get any worse.

"We could have kept playing until tonight and I don't think we would have scored. It just doesn't seem like it's going to go in the net for us at the minute.

"We had to rely on Dimitri Payet with a free kick in midweek against Accrington Stanley and apart from one cleared off the line, I can't remember too many good chances that we had.

"They created a lot and it's not good enough, simple as."

West Ham remain in the relegation places after another defeat, with their last victory coming against Bournemouth in their first game at their new stadium, but Noble says the team need to stick together to come through their bad patch.

"I think confidence is a problem. It all blends it to one, but with the start we had, the European games we weren't great in, we had a good win here against Bournemouth and it all sort of goes downhill from there.

"I think we've conceded 11 goals in three games, it's laughable really and not good enough. We know that in there.

"I've been in this position a lot of times before with this club and you've got to work hard for each other. You can't blame each other and start talking in your little circles because we've all got to look at ourselves.

"Luckily enough it's early on in the season and we get a chance to turn it around."
