Supporter Gary Singh will take charge of Dagenham & Redbridge and go up against David Moyes' West Ham after winning a charity auction

Dagenham & Redbridge are set to have a new manager for one night only, as a fan steps into the dug-out for their friendly with West Ham.

Estate agent Gary Singh will be taking charge of the Daggers on Wednesday night and going up against Premier League veteran David Moyes.

Barking-born Singh placed the winning bid in a charity auction to step into the managerial hot seat for the evening, and is relishing the task ahead of him.

"I'm a Championship Manager in real life now, coming to Dagenham & Redbridge to take on David Moyes," Singh told Sky Sports.

"We'll see what happens, if any passion comes out if there's a goal scored, or a block - hopefully I don't get sent to the stands for kicking a bottle."

The struggling conference side held the fundraiser in order to give a much-needed boost to club funds, with West Ham offering their services for the mid-season friendly.

The occasion will be particularly poignant for Singh, who happens to be a passionate Hammers supporter.

"I am a season ticket holder, I am a West Ham fan, but I always used to follow the results of Dagenham & Redbridge.

"I was born in Barking, raised in Ilford, so I've always followed them and my first match was on Sky Sports 3. FA Trophy, Dagenham & Redbridge versus Woking which they lost 1-0, but it was good to see my local team on TV."

The match will get underway at Chigwell Construction Stadium on Wednesday 21 March 2018, kick-off 7.30pm.
