Manuel Pellegrini praised West Ham's owners for backing him in the transfer market but says his new-look squad must gel quickly

Wilshere missed out on England World Cup squad but Pellegrini feels the 26-year-old has a skillset suited to international football and believes he can use his move to West Ham as a springboard to get back into Gareth Southgate's good graces.

Pellegrini added: "Can he be an England player again? I think so, yes. The technical players make the difference and Jack is the special player that makes different things.

"So if he continues playing every weekend his performances will be better and I'm sure that he will have an option to return to the England squad."
