West Ham are closing in on a deal to sign Celta Vigo striker Maxi Gomez, according to Sky sources.
Sky Sports News understands West Ham are prepared to meet the player's £43.2m release clause.
The Hammers held talks with the Spanish side over Gomez in the summer, but felt Celta Vigo were demanding too much money for the player.
Negotiations are ongoing over a deal which could see him loaned back until the end of the season given Celta's position at the wrong end of La Liga.
Sky Sports News understands West Ham want to go forward with the transfer despite the fact Marko Arnautovic has ruled out a move away from the club in January.
Meanwhile, fellow West Ham forward Javier Hernandez is keen on a move to Valencia and West Ham are willing to sell him this month, according to the Spanish side's manager Marcelino.
