QPR were interested in taking West Ham winger Matt Jarvis on loan but were prevented by Premier League rules, according to Sky sources.
Rangers boss Harry Redknapp told Sky Sports News HQ reporter Gary Cotterill that he was keen to bring Jarvis to Loftus Road with the on loan Mauro Zarate heading back to east London.
However, the rules state a club cannot send a player back to a club and loan another in the same window and that meant the deal could not go ahead despite QPR asking the Premier League for special dispensation.
Zarate has made just one Premier League appearance since signing for the club on January 6, coming off the bench in the away defeat to fellow strugglers Burnley.
