Watford head coach Quique Sanchez Flores says he's delighted with his side's victory at Stoke

Quique Sanchez Flores insists he was not concerned by Troy Deeney's run of games without a goal after finally seeing him score in Watford's win at Stoke.

The striker ended a run of 857 minutes without a top-flight goal as he broke the deadlock at the Britannia Stadium before Almen Abdi added a second halfway through the second period.

Deeney's goal came moments after he had hit the bar, and at that stage it seemed his luck was still out.

He showed good composure, however, to score past England squad member Jack Butland and set up Watford's third Premier League win of the season.

Deeney netted 21 times in all competitions last season as Watford won promotion as the runners-up in the Championship and Flores was pleased to see the centre-forward open his account in this campaign.

He said: "I wasn't worried. I talked with Deeney about this matter and he had an obsession with scoring. Finally, his goal came in a natural way.

"It is very important for the confidence of the player, of course, but I wasn't worried about this situation.

"It was important for the confidence of the players to score and I saw a lot of that today including Abdi with the second.

"I think we created attempts and I am happy in general with the performance and the way we attack.

"Sometimes we score and sometimes not. It can be a problem but when you score, everything is solved. We are working every week in the same way."

Spaniard Flores was delighted with a victory which takes Watford above Stoke in the table into 13th place.

His team is competing well having risen up a division over the summer and he is content with where they are at present.

Flores added: "After the first 10 games, we are a quarter of the way through the league and I think it's okay to collect 13 points.

"I'm very happy with the performance of the team. I'm really pleased. I think the players played really well.

"We had a lot of confidence and we tried to play the ball and defend high. We didn't concede attempts and we played with a very big personality. I think it's important

"Stoke are a very difficult team to play against and they had a lot of confidence before the match but the players showed one more time the amazing soul we have in the team."
