Quique Sanchez Flores believes Troy Deeney deserves a chance with England after Wayne Rooney was ruled out for six weeks with a knee injury.
The country's record goalscorer is not expected to be back until the final weeks of the season and will be a loss for club side Manchester United after 14 goals for them so far this term.
While Rooney is expected to be back in action well before Euro 2016, his absence does leave Roy Hodgson with a gap to fill for next month's friendlies with Germany and Holland.
Flores thinks Deeney - a scorer of nine goals this season including two in his last outing against Crystal Palace - merits consideration as a replacement.
He said: "It's an amazing opportunity for our player, for Troy Deeney. He has this English spirit and he represents English players very well.
"I hope it will be perfect for the player, perfect for Watford and perfect for everyone. When you put one player from Watford in the national team, it is proof something is good.
"If we are able to put players in the national team, we are getting opportunities and targets because the team improves and the club improves.
"It means Watford are working well. It's one more reason to think things are happening at Watford in the right way."
Deeney is likely to be involved in this weekend's FA Cup fifth round tie at home to Championship side Leeds United.
Having already seen off Newcastle and Nottingham Forest, Flores is eyeing another win - and believes his side has the potential to reach the latter stages.
Watford will be bidding to advance to the quarter-finals for the first time in nine years and are looking to win the competition for the first time after reaching the final in 1984.
Flores added: "We have the feeling and the emotions to do something interesting in this competition.
"We always choose good players, we play well and we haven't conceded goals in this competition.
"It means we are playing in a serious way. We focus on the 90 minutes but Leeds will not be an easy opponent."
