Former Leeds boss Neil Redfearn insists the club need some stability after Uwe Rosler's sacking on Monday morning.

The German became the fifth manager to lose his job at Elland Road under the tenure of Italian owner Massimo Cellino following Saturday's 2-1 defeat to Sky Bet Championship leaders Brighton.

Redfearn was number four on that list after he was replaced in the summer, despite leading the West Yorkshire club to Championship safety last season.

In a strange twist, former Rotherham manager Steve Evans has taken over at Leeds, with Redfearn in for the Scot at the Millers.

"I don't want to comment too much on what's happening, but to build anything or to create anything you need stability," Redfearn said..

"It's probably frustrating for Uwe because he will have had his plans and put things in place as did I last year and got them to a certain situation where you think you can take them on.

"But they do it as they want to do it.

"I have got a lot of friends at Leeds and I wish them every success apart from when they play us.

"But to be honest with you I am more interested in Rotherham United. This is where I am at, this is what I am excited about.

"We have got a lot of good people at this football club that understand the game."

Evans - who took Rotherham from League Two to Championship safety in three seasons - took training at Thorp Arch on Monday and has since been handed the job on a rolling contract until June 30.

"Good luck to him," Redfearn added. "He's had success wherever he has been."
