Preston have recalled Ben Davies from his loan spell with Southport to cover for their defensive injuries.

The 20-year-old has been with the non-league Sandgrounders since September but has been brought back into North End's squad because of injuries to Paddy McCarthy, Paul Huntington and Tom Clarke.

McCarthy will definitely miss Tuesday's trip to Charlton, and Huntington and Clarke are doubts, while Bailey Wright had to play through a knee problem on Saturday because of Lilywhites manager Simon Grayson's paucity of options in that department.

"He's played the last six or seven games at Southport so he's match fit if we needed to call upon him," Grayson said at his pre-match press conference.
