Forward Chris Maguire has re-joined Oxford until the end of the season following his release by Rotherham earlier in the day.
The Scot moved quickly to secure a return to the U's, where he spent a successful nine-game loan spell this season, after he was let go by Rotherham by mutual consent.
Maguire joined the Millers from Sheffield Wednesday last summer, but struggled to secure a regular first-team spot under Steve Evans and then Neil Redfearn.
Oxford head coach Michael Appleton told the club's official website: "It's an excellent signing for us. Chris has played all of his football at a higher level and I think the Oxford fans could see the quality he possesses when he came here in December.
"He had a positive impact here on loan and I'm sure will do so again now the move is permanent."
Maguire has scored once in nine matches for Oxford, who sit third in Sky Bet League Two.
Maguire added: "I enjoyed my time here and am very happy to have signed. There is a real buzz about the club right now and I am looking forward to being part of it once more."
