Bolton have been dealt a huge injury blow with the news that goalkeeper Ben Amos could miss up to six weeks of their Championship relegation battle with ankle ligament damage.
Wanderers boss Neil Lennon confirmed the absence following Bolton's 1-0 defeat at Birmingham on Tuesday night, during which Paul Rachubka filled in between the posts in what was only his second start for the club.
Lennon had tried to sign an emergency replacement but his request was turned down by the Football League as Bolton are still under a transfer embargo.
"We're expecting him (Amos) to be out for around three to six weeks. He has ligament damage in his ankle," Lennon told the club's official website.
"We had looked at bringing in an emergency loan deal but we were rebuffed on that front.
"Paul Rachubka stepped in and did very well. He made a great save in the second half and looked assured and sure footed."
Amos was injured whilst kicking a ball during Saturday's 1-1 draw against QPR at the Macron Stadium.
Bolton's loss to Birmingham left them second from bottom of the Championship table and seven points adrift of safety.
